Monmouthshire Wedding Photographer | Hogs Head pub
Becky & Aaron
The Hogs Head pub boasts stunning grounds, with arching trees and a lovely bridge over a quaint pond. A creative wedding photographers playground!
The venue hosts a variety of wedding parties and can cater for any size wedding; with a stunning canopy styled room for bigger weddings. Smaller weddings can take advantage of the rustic converted barn room heated by a lovely log fire.
The owners provide amazing hospitality, the main owner even helped carry our lights for us! This venue is definitely a top 10 wedding venue for any couple getting married in and around Monmouthshire.
A 5am alarm call, alerted us to get up, cook some bacon sandwiches, pack the car and get on our way down the M4 towards Monmouthshire.
With a picturesque drive through Usk Village we arrived at Becky’s mothers house where bridal prep was just getting started. The amazing makeup artist (or MUA for short) Hayley Drew arrived shortly after to begin getting the bridal party glammed up for the day ahead. Becky and her bridesmaids had already gone for their hairstyling in the vintage hairdresser in Usk village (Hair Affair).
Like always, whilst the bridal parties makeup was being done; we took some creative detail shots with a very important pendant containing a picture of Becky’s dad.
After the makeup and hair was completed, we made our way up to the Hogs Head Pub. The bridal party shared some champagne, laughter and tears before getting dressed for the day ahead.
Groom prep was short and sweet with no second shooter to capture the prep Oliver went for the good old:
“Take your jacket off and put it back on”
“Tie your shoe lace”
“Adjust your tie”
“Look out the window” and
“walk towards me guys”
We do advise having a second shooter for your wedding (Click Here to find out why); as they compliment the day well and are able to be our second pair of eyes.
Groom prep is easily achieved by an experienced wedding photographer but if you are looking for raw emotion then we highly suggest a second wedding photographer.
Becky was walked down the aisle by her very proud mother, with the pendant of Becky’s dad attached to her bouquet, to meet a very happy but anxious Aaron.
It was a lovely service, with family admiring how happy the couple were throughout. With the sealing of a first kiss Becky and Aaron were now husband and wife! The couple were grinning from ear to ear with joy, it was really nice to see and capture that true happiness.
Then it was time for us to organise the guests to get those traditional family group shots captured and even some interactive ones to get everyone mingling (You will have to book us to see our bad jokes and dance moves!).
As with every wedding, we then took the couple off to get some lovely couple portraits, utilising the stunning grounds that the Hogs head has to offer.
Did somebody say speech? with the tapping of some glasses to get everyones attention the very nervous Aaron was up first to give very well prepared speech. There was even some jokes regarding the toilet roll shortages that were coming into affect (A day before the first lockdown this wedding took place! How lucky were these guys!).
We then all tucked in to a beautiful hog roast supplied by (Find Name) which was gorgeous and we were very grateful for. Checkout why you should feed your wedding photographer in our FAQ’s.
Then before we knew it, it was time for the lovely couples first dance and then the disco! which Becky’s bridal party surprised her with a Caribbean styled flashmob to some of her favourite songs. It was a brilliant moment to capture and also dance along too!
Now it was time for one of our proudest images to date, as with any wedding we try and make your day unique and as soon as Oliver saw that amazing archway of trees in the morning, he had a vision which we are so proud to have captured.
I can’t thank Oliver and Lauren enough!!They went above and beyond on our special day,I can’t recommend them enough!! Made us both feel at ease the whole day, photos are absolutely stunning….i can’t stop looking at them!! Thank you so much again guys
