Nikki and Ian’s wedding at Canada Lake and Lodge

Becoming one of our most popular wedding venues to be booked at for 2022/23, we were excited to finally a Canada Lodge and Lake wedding photographer. Nikki and Ian definitely chose a breathtaking venue.

Bridal Prep

We started the day by arriving at Nikki’s bridal prep to capture those important moments shared between her and her bridal party. Bridal preps have definitely become a staple part of any wedding photographers day and we think they are the best time to capture those true emotions. Nikki got ready in one of the Executive suites, which was the perfect space for Nikki to get ready in along with her bridal party.

Nikki had definitely taken our advice on creating some Pinterest boards with some great ideas being utilised to personalise their big day. We always ask our couples to gather all the details they want captured on the big day along with a copy of their wedding invites. This is the perfect starting point to bridal prep as it allows us to introduce ourselves to everyone, ensure they are comfortable in front of the camera whilst getting photos of those important details.

After the popping of a champagne bottle and a lot of laughter shared amongst the Nikki and her bridal party, it was time for her to get into her beautiful lace dress by Gardenia Bridal. Nikki definitely looked like a queen in her wedding dress, with beautiful flowers by Flower Barn at Granary Farm complementing the dress perfectly. We had the honour of capturing a first look in her dress to Nikki’s mother. It was very emotional and a beautiful moment to capture.

We met up with Ian and his groomsmen in the Lodge, where he was anxiously awaiting the entrance if his bride. We always find ourselves helping the groomsmen get ready and Ian was no exception but with a quick amendment of his bowtie and buttonhole by Oliver, he was ready.

The girls definitely arrived in style at The Lodge, with them zooming up from the Executive suite in the very prestigious golf buggy or how Oliver nicknamed it, the Rolls Buggy.. Unfortunately Nikki’s father is no longer with us and that left her cousin with the important responsibility of walking Nikki down the aisle.

Following the beautiful ceremony, it was downstairs for a fun walkthrough of the confetti tunnel. We absolutely love capturing these confetti moments as it clearly shows the happy emotions on all of the guests faces. Oliver always finds confetti in hair at the end of the day though! We then quickly got all the group shots done so that all the guests could go to the bar to drink and mingle.

Following group shots, we went off with Nikki and Ian to explore the grounds of Canada Lodge and capture some amazing couple portraits. We definitely made use of that gigantic and stunning veil by Gardenia Bridal to get some creative wedding photos.

The Reception

Following a couple of drinks it was time for the reception in the professionally coordinated and decorated reception room downstairs in the lodge. Canada Lodge is a fantastic venue for room turnaround and ensures guests aren’t left waiting outside at any point in the day. Nikki’s love for Pinterest combined with the couples bubbly personalities definitely shone through, with some awesome festival styled sweet favours and vibrant coloured decor to match.

After some emotional speeches it was time for the traditional gruelling of the groom by his best men and boy they went to town. It was absolutely hilarious to sit back and listen to all of those funny memories they shared with Ian, Nikki found it hysterical. With the cutting of the stylish and delicious wedding cake it was time to enter the evening celebrations.

The couple shared a very romantic first dance with a few impressive leans by Ian, who had definitely been practicing before the big day! Guests were then invited onto the dance floor and Oliver took the opportunity to down cameras and invite Nikki’s mother up for a dance. We ensure no one is left out on the wedding day and Nikki’s mother was very appreciative of this simple but powerful gesture.

It wouldn’t be a wedding photographed by us if we didn’t get a jaw dropping night time shot, with Nikki and Ians wedding being no exception. We had decided on two locations that had never been utilised in the same way before. We utilised the gorgeous chandelier between the reception and ceremony room to get a stunning silhouette. This is one of our favourite images from Nikki and Ian’s wedding day. Finally, we went outside to light-up that beautiful tree with Niki and Ian sharing a moment in the foreground, creating a perfect ending to a perfect day.

Kind Words

” The best day captured perfectly. I cannot recommend Oliver and Lauren enough. For a couple that really dislikes the camera, we absolutely love our gallery. Thank you both, so much 📸
