The Venue

Lanelay hall is a stunning 19th century Manor House that has been transformed from residential property and even The South Wales Fire Service into the perfect wedding venue for small weddings. The victorian features are beautifully blended in with a modern twist, to provide a welcoming and bright wedding venue that can be made exclusive to you for the entire day. The venue boasts three function rooms to accommodate your wedding party and style. If you have read a bit about us you know we are massive foodies and Lanelay hall doesn’t disappoint, with a stunning selection of food to cater for for your wedding day. Smylog forest also backs onto Lanelay hall providing endless opportunities for you wedding photos.

Bridal Prep

We started Lorraine and Jeff’s wedding day started at 9am with us of course turning up early to scout the area and plan out some areas for couple portraits later on in the day. We then made our way to start capturing some bridal prep where we met a very nervous Lorraine. Like every bridal prep we started with the photographing of bridal details and the all important wedding dress. With the details captured we made our way back to the bridal suite to capture those lovely candid moments being shared between Lorraine, her sisters and her mother. To add a personal touch to Lorraines wedding day, Lorraine’s mother made some stunning homemade chutney for the evening buffet. Then a couple of hours and a few glasses of bubbles later, Lorraine was ready to walk down the aisle.

Groom Prep

Jeff wanted to keep his groomsmen very personal to him with just his son there to share those moments with him. Like any groom prep it involved them struggling to tie a Windsor knot in their tie and Jeff getting slightly nervous as the big moment approached. With an emotional moment shared between father and son Jeff was ready to marry his beautiful bride. Heres a picture of how to tie a proper Windsor Knot just for you to get some practice in!

In the blink of an eye it was 1pm and time for Lorraine to walk down the aisle and marry her dashing groom who comically took a deep breath (See image below) before his bride entered. It was a short but beautiful service with family smiling from ear to ear whilst Lorraine and Jeff tied the knot with the sharing of their first kiss and husband and wife. Lanelay Hall has stunning grounds that provided Lorraine and Jeff with the traditional walk out of the ceremony but with a twist of bubbles instead of confetti! A brilliant and biodegradable friendly way of those traditional celebrations.

Lorraine and Jeff had a stunning three course meal that we were fortunate enough to have as well, which was followed by those all important speeches with Jeff’s son bravely taking front centre stage to make that all important best mans speech, which was fantastically delivered. Following the wedding breakfast and speeches, we took the couple off to get some couple portraits that we had planned for when we arrived in the morning.

In the blink of an eye it was time for the happy couple to have their first dance surrounded by their lovely family who then joined in at the end of their first dance when the wedding disco started with those wedding classics at full volume. We took the couple off for a few creative night time portraits before saying goodnight to the couple to enjoy the rest of their evening.
