St Fagans Engagement Photoshoot | Philippa & Jack
As a Cardiff Wedding photographer we are very fortunate to photograph at many stunning venues in Cardiff and beyond, take a look at our Top 10 favourite Cardiff wedding venues for more information. St Fagans National History Museum holds a nostalgic place in both of our hearts, with many a school trip and gingerbread men eaten from the bakery when we were younger. So it was a delight to hear that Philippa and Jack not only wanted an engagement photoshoot at this venue but were indeed celebrating their wedding day there!
We met the couple along with Philippa’s mum, at the entrance to the museum where we had a good catchup with it being do long since we last met due to COVID-19. A quick stroll through the newly renovated entrance saw us in this beautiful world of restored houses from all across Wales, it truly brings a smile to your face. We decided to walk towards the grandeur St Fagans Castle, as the stunning landscape makes for the perfect background.
If you have read any of our other blogs you will know that Oliver hates posing and instead likes to have fun with the couple. Jack and Philippa were no exception, starting with a walk across the bridge whilst pretending to be tipsy. This always makes for fantastic candid photos of the couple, with lots of laughter and movement to capture. We always like to make each session unique and we decided to ask Jack to whisper what he was having for tea into Philippa’s ear… but in a Scottish accent (weird we know!, but what amazing laughter we captured).
Moving towards the entrance to St Fagans Castle, Oliver saw the perfect strip of ground for Jack to give Philippa a piggy back. This is a great idea to capture the couple laughing and having a true connection, I think the photos speak for themselves!
Being a Cardiff Wedding Photographer we are always looking for unique backgrounds, with different compositions in mind. The rustic greenhouse made for a perfectly symmetrical image which highlighted the couples pink themed outfits. It is one of our favourite images from this engagement photoshoot.
St Fagans Castle has a patch of grass in front of the elegant flower gardens which Lauren immediately saw as a perfect dance floor. Taking the couples first dance song onto our phone, the couple soon began to dance making for some amazing documentary wedding photographs.
Jack and Philippa absolutely rocked their engagement photoshoot and we cannot wait to photograph the big day at this National Treasure.
Kind Words from the couple
“We had such a great time and can’t wait for the wedding! Love the pictures xxx”
