Before we go any further, the photos featured were taken in our modern boho styled shoot as opposed to a ‘real wedding’. What is a styled shoot, we hear you ask?
To put it simply, a styled shoot is usually a fake wedding formed by a collaboration of local wedding businesses. Styled shoots revolve around a theme, ours being Modern Boho.
It’s no secret that it’s been a tough year for small businesses, the wedding industry being one of the most hard hit. What better way to showcase local trusted suppliers than bringing them all together to do what they do best?! Styled shoot images are often a little more posed and editorial than a ‘real wedding’ but they serve as the perfect inspiration to add straight to your Pinterest board so you can plan the theme and suppliers to be a part of your wedding.
Every shoot needs a venue of course.. If you’ve read our blogs you’ll know that we’re big foodies. Cobbles Kitchen, Ogmore is a source of GOOD food! Cobbles Kitchen has become a fully licensed wedding venue and it’s the perfect spot for an intimate modern boho wedding. We jumped at the chance of holding our shoot here and we made the best decision.
Cobbles is filled with photo opportunities in and around the venue. You can rock the barn style backdrop, take a walk through the pretty courtyard, or even grab some fish and chips! It’s surrounded by beautiful fields, sand dunes and epic beaches! What more could you ask for from your wedding venue?
Just like a real wedding, we started the day with prep. Our talented hair and makeup artist (Lauren Ellis Hair and Makeup) created a beautiful look for our model Katie whilst adding in a stunning custom headpiece from Nu Jewellery by Emma.
Whilst we snapped away, our venue stylists and prop hire supplier were busy transforming a blank canvas into a modern boho wonderland. Dreamy Events Hire supplied this awesome wire grid backdrop complete with neon sign – it set the perfect mood for our shoot and proved to be a great backdrop. Why not hire a backdrop for your wedding and encourage guests to strike a pose or even use it as a base to your family and friend group shots?
After Lauren finished creating Katie’s modern boho makeup look (can we just take a moment to appreciate the detail in the hairstyle!), it was time for our lovely models to become our bride and groom! Willow in White is based just around the corner from Cobbles in St Bride’s. Run by the lovely Melanie, Willow in White is a dreamy wedding boutique offering gorgeous dresses, lots of which suited our boho theme to a tee – we were spoilt for choice! We chose this amazing boho lace dress which felt like it was made for our model Katie!
We asked Cinnamon Pig to help up out with our table setup and room decor and wow, they did not disappoint! Loren and Carol brought so much character and detail to our table setup as well as providing some quirky little details such as a typewriter, chalkboard and mailbox which we would definitely want to add to our wedding day!.
Dyfed Menswear Cardiff kindly provided us with a full outfit for James, we were super impressed by the amazing next day hire service! Dan in Dyfed Menswear helped us to choose the perfect suit colour and accessories which matched the theme wonderfully. James looked super sharp and ready to pose with his bride!
A bride is not complete without her bouquet and we were so excited that Amy from Sweet William wanted to jump on board and help us out with some amazing floral pieces. We were lost for words when we first saw what Amy had produced – a button hole for our groom, beautiful bouquet for our bride, as well as a table centrepiece, a huge display and some candle pieces too. Featuring both fresh and dried flowers along with the very boho pampas grass, the flowers fit the style perfectly.
It’s often we look at amazing flowers at weddings and think about how much of a shame it is that the fresh flowers won’t last forever; that’s until we discovered Rose and Lewis who has the perfect solution! Mary captures flower petals in resin to make the most amazing keepsakes and favours! Mary was able to match flower petals to our theme perfectly to produce a ‘Love’ sign and a heart keepsake for our bride and groom. These are definitely beautiful gifts to give to loved ones on your wedding day or even to surprise the bride and groom!
Our talented baker Sue from Creative Cake Kitchen, Cowbridge also incorporated flowers into her cake design ( 1 of 2!) which is such a brilliant idea! All of the flowers are edible and would definitely suit any boho wedding. As if one cake wasn’t enough, Sue presented a second boho cake which was a complete work of art, complete with lace icing detail along the side.. A big thanks to Sue for feeding our suppliers with some amazing cake samples too! (Still dreaming about that Chocolate Berry cake).
The day was filled with so many small details that brought the shoot together. It was amazing to see how each supplier was on the same page when it came to the modern boho wedding theme. We provided a moodboard which is a great way to show your suppliers the style that you like. Our invites and stationery for the day were handmade by Vicki from Paperliscious Oasis which Cinnamon Pig styled beautiful into our table setup. We loved the wax seal too!
On the subject of wax, Emily from Pretty Vibe Botanics asked if we could incorporate her beautiful hand-made candles and wax melts. We’re going to have to place an order as they smell so good and we were sad to return them after the shoot. Pretty Vibe Botanics offer a range of different products perfect for your wedding. After a good few hours shooting in the Hayloft room at Cobbles, we headed across the road to the nearby field and then – to da beach!
Katie and James rocked (get it?) these beach shots and members of the public were super friendly in congratulating them on their ‘wedding’ day!
It’s safe to say we had an amazing day thanks to a great collaborative effort of our suppliers. The shoot provides lots of inspiration for the modern boho couples of today, especially if you’re thinking of an intimate barn style wedding.
