Lets be honest MEN ARE HARD BLOODY WORK!

Deciding on that perfect gift for your partner and/or the lads can be hard work! First of all, they don’t want matching gowns, champagne flutes or slippers. Simply put, groomsmen are not huge fans of a fuss and like a more simple approach. Because of this, guys are very difficult to buy for, take it from someone who is a complete nightmare to buy birthday and Christmas gifts for! (although costa gift cards are an easy go to for me, I love coffee).

After photographing so many weddings and seeing all the different types of gifts that groomsmen have on their wedding day, we thought we would compile a list of the Top Ten Wedding Gifts for Men.

1. Alcohol

It is really easy during your wedding preparations to become fixated on all things wedding and you end up buying your friends and family gifts orientated around your wedding day and can only be used once. For example, customised bridal gowns, groomsmen socks, slippers, champagne flutes etc. These are all lovely ideas but they cost a lot of money to only be used once! and if you have only budgeted a certain amount then practical gifts are what we believe to be the better choice. So here is a list of ideas: Watches Necklaces Candles (Pretty Vibe Botanics) Flavoured Coffee’s Aftershave/perfume A picture of a fond memory Bottle of wine/spirits These are all gifts that can be used on and after your wedding day, ensuring that your money has been well spent. This suggestion isn’t to say don’t spend on customised gowns etc., but consider how useful your gifts will be after the big day.

What better gift is there than a nice bottle of whiskey, gin or craft beers. Having a bottle of the grooms favourite alcoholic drink incorporates thought but retains that masculine edge to your groom and his groomsmen’s gifts. This will go nicely with gift option 5 below where you can get even more creative and personal with your wedding gift.

There are plenty of creative alcohol gift ideas that you can purchase from dedicated wedding suppliers or you could even go wild on Pinterest and create a whole DIY gift set for your partner.

Feel like splashing the cash? We personally think a watch is up there as a top 3 wedding gift for groomsmen. A watch is something that will always remind them of your wedding day and something that they will be able to wear daily for years to come.

There are many brands to choose from: Boss, Hugo, Tudor, Omega, Breitling, Fossil etc. With various price tags attached to them. There is something very masculine about owning a Swiss watch and being watch enthusiasts ourselves, we think this is the ultimate wedding gift for groomsmen.

You can truly personalise a watch to your partners personality which will mean the absolute world to them on your wedding day. Choosing their favourite colour for the dial, their favourite strap type (metal, leather, fabric) and even adding a personal engraving on back.

3. Cigars

If your partner is partial to the occasional smoke then why not get some fancy cuban cigars for him and his groomsmen to share in the evening of your wedding day. Even if he doesn’t smoke, he will most likely make an exception as cigars do bring out an almost treasured tradition.

Not only that, but they also make for some fantastically creative wedding photographs during the evening when you are mingling with your guests outside. Take a look at a recent wedding of our at St Donat’s Castle to see some truly amazing results with the groomsmen smoking some wedding gift cigars.

4. Lads Day out

Lads love a good day out with their mates and this gives you the perfect opportunity to arrange a meet-up with all of your bridal party whilst the guys are out. Looking through your wedding album whilst sipping on a glass of prosseco and maybe even watching your wedding film to look back on your very special day.

  • Quad Biking

5. Personalised Flasks

Tying in nicely with gift idea number 1 is getting your groom and/or groomsmen personalised flasks. These allow you to create a gift-set that works together well and also incorporates a personal touch.

It is also the perfect opportunity to write the date of your wedding down so in ten years time he will have no excuse to forget your anniversary as typically blokes do haha.

6. Aftershave

A brilliant idea is to have your husband-to-be remember the fragrance that he wore on your wedding day. This present can become almost a tradition that is gifted on every anniversary to remind him of your special day for years to come.

There are so many aftershaves to choose from and it will show true thought has gone into your gift as it will represent him and his personal taste.

7. Sports car hire for groomsmen

The phrase “Boys and their toys” comes to mind when we thought of this awesome gift for groomsmen. This is a gift that will bring a super huge smile to your husband-to-be’s face on the morning of your wedding day. I mean what better way to turn up to your wedding than in a V8 super car all suited and booted. You are literally making your husband James Bond!

8. Matching Cufflinks

Something as simple as personalised cufflinks could mean so much to your partner on your wedding day. The above picture is from Rebecca and Luc’s wedding at Cobbles Kitchen & Deli. Luc had set up his own gardening business and has worked extremely hard to make it a popular name in the local area. Rebecca gifted him these awesome tractor cufflinks to show how much appreciation and love she had for him working so hard to help build a life for him and his family.

Gifts like this are not always extremely expensive but can mean the absolute world to the groom on the day of his wedding.

9. A personalised note

One of the cheapest but most valuable gifts out of all mentioned on this blog is a personalised note to your partner on the day of your wedding. Not only does it provide a brilliant opportunity to take some amazing groom prep photographs, but it also gives your husband to be a moment in amongst the hustle and bustle of groom prep. A moment to truly connect with you before you walk down the aisle, a moment to reflect back on all of those brilliant memories that you have shared together leading up to this amazing day.

It is always such an amazing moment to capture and nice to see those raw natural emotions from your partner as they read this personalised message just before they head off to say I do.

10. Treat them to a bit of everything

Why not take inspiration from all the other amazing wedding gift ideas for men that we have talked about above. Create a hamper of all of your partners and/or groomsmen favourite things in a lovely custom made and personalised wooden box. A box that can be used as a keepsake of all the memories that are important to him from your wedding day.
